After my first Jiu-Jitsu class, I was hooked. I found my passion and trained two times a day for 6 days a week. I lost over 80lbs and have kept it off for more than 11 years. I gained confidence, made friends, and found my purpose.
Jiu Jitsu transformed my life and it’s my mission to share this life-changing opportunity with as many people as possible.
I don’t care if you’re a former athlete, an out of shape beginner, a skinny kid, or a busy mom—I want you in my gym. I’m looking for anyone who wants to learn this amazing art form, desperately wants to better their lives, and wants to be a part of a supportive and positive community.”
Adam is the head instructor at 10th Planet Brazilian Jiu Jitsu San Mateo.
He has won multiple Brazilian Jiu Jitsu championships and has competed at the world championship level. Adam achieved his 1st-degree blackbelt under the famed Eddie Bravo and has over a decade of experience.
At 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu San Mateo, we offer beginner and advanced classes for the entire family. Each instructor is a high-level martial artist, many with championship backgrounds.

Adam Sachnoff is the founder and head instructor of 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu San Mateo, where he has built a community focused on growth, resilience, and transformation. Once weighing over 300 pounds and struggling with direction, Adam discovered Jiu Jitsu and turned his life around—losing more than 80 pounds, finding confidence, and dedicating himself fully to the art. Today, he’s a 2nd-degree black belt under Eddie Bravo, a decorated competitor with world-level achievements, and a mentor to countless students who have advanced to the highest ranks. Known for his passion and authenticity, Adam has made it his mission to help people of all backgrounds experience the life-changing power of Jiu Jitsu.
Kids Instructor
Coach Ian was awarded his black belt by Coach Adam in June 2025 after nearly a decade of dedicated training. With a deep passion for both Jiu Jitsu and teaching, Ian has become an integral part of the 10th Planet San Mateo community. He is especially known for his gift with kids—transforming even the most energetic, unfocused students into disciplined and motivated Jiu Jitsu practitioners.
